Turtles are free

Launched in August 2010, this campaign involves the release of three selected turtles back to their natural habitat after spending four years of intensive care in Aquaria KLCC.

Learning more about our friends
The three Green Sea turtles namely Cruise, Duke and Mertie were satellite-tagged to provide researchers with essential information on their location, dive time and the actual routes they take to foraging areas after nesting.

The technology behind it
Satellite tagging by no means harms the animal, as it only involves tagging the carapace (outer shell) of the turtle and is essentially a radio transmitter transmitting signals back to earth via satellites within interval timings.

Cruise was released back into the wild at Cherating Beach, Pahang while Duke & Mertie were released at Cagar Hutang Beach in Pulau Redang.
