Saving our Turtles

Aquaria KLCC is seriously committed to the conservation, protection and breeding of marine life through active participation in several projects supported by the Department of Fisheries and public donations, including their highly successful "Saving our Turtles" campaign to create awareness of the threatening extinction of our turtles and terrapins and saving them.


A Living Fossil
Marine turtles have been swimming the world's oceans for over 100 million years, outliving drastic climatic changes and even the dinosaur extinction. They are an integral part of the marine ecosystem. For many years, they are grossly threatened by human-induced by catch in commercial fishing, pollution and harvesting of turtle eggs for consumption.

Doing our part
To protect these turtles from going into extinction, Aquaria KLCC collaborated with the Department of Fisheries and University Malaysia Terengganu in formulating a trio of effective conservation campaigns over a three-year period.
