About me
Hola! My name is Luna that's my brother Loco. Pablo & Jose are Arapaimas that we met when we arrived here at Aquaria KLCC. We were pleasantly surprised to see more of our kind together as we are quite rare outside of Amazon basin in South America.
If you are wondering how we got so big, it's because we eat a lot. But guess what? We can actually get even bigger! So come and visit us often and watch us grow ^_^ .
Interesting Facts about me
For those of you who think we're just like any other chubby fish, think again! We are actually air-breathers and we breathe using our labyrinth organ situated in our mouth. Last but not least, not only are we a living fossil, but we're also one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.
Where can you find me in Aquaria?
Come visit us at the flooded forest right here in Aquaria KLCC!
Size & Weight
I'm roughly 2 metres in length, but the largest of our brethren can grow up 4.5 metres.
Diet
In the wild, the diet of an arapaima consists of fish, crustaceans, and other small animals.
Habitat & Range
You can find more of us along the Amazon River, in South America.
